Dorothy A. Strecker, 76 of Russell died Sunday, August 12, 2012 at her home.

Dorothy was born September 15, 1935 in Hays, Kansas the daughter of Fred and Thelma (Barnes) Koelling.  She grew up in the Gorham and Natoma area and graduated from Russell High School.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Kenneth A. Strecker on June 21, 1953 in Russell.  They made their home in Russell.  Kenneth preceded her in death on May 12, 1988.

Dorothy was a bank teller for Home State Bank, then was a loan officer and past president of Russell State Bank.  She retired from United Missouri Bank.  She also helped Kenneth on the farm.

Dorothy was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church.

Dorothy is survived by her sister Barbara Conger; nephews Roger Conger of Omaha, Nebraska, Alan Conger of Kansas City, Missouri and Mark Conger of Sprinfield, Illinois: niece, Janice Ehlers of Superior, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Richard Strecker of Wichita, Kansas and sister-in-law, Janice Stoppel of Russell, Kansas.

Celebration of Dorothy’s Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 17, 2012 at St. John Lutheran Church.  Friends may sign the book from 9 AM to 5 PM Thursday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary.  Cremation has preceded the service.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of these arrangements.
