Linda Kay (Pfortmiller) Sharits, 68 of Natoma, KS died Tuesday night, August 14, 2012 in Overland Park Regional Hospital in Overland Park, KS.

Linda was born December 18, 1943 in Hays, KS. She was the daughter of Lawrence and Hazel Pfortmiller. She grew up in Natoma and graduated from Natoma High School in 1961. From there, Linda attended Wichita Business College.  While in Wichita, she met and married James Sharits on June 30, 1965. Their union of marriage blessed them with 4 children; Gregory Scott, Geoffrey Lane, Kimberly Gay, and Kristine Kay. Geoffrey preceded her in death shortly after his arrival on June 13, 1968.

Linda and James moved to Arizona in 1969. While in Arizona, Linda worked with U-Haul in the payroll and accounting department.  Linda and her children moved to Florida in 1984. While residing in Florida, Linda worked at Racal-Milgo and then the City of Hallendale in the payroll and accounting department. In 2000, Linda made the decision to come back home to Natoma to care for her parents. Upon the passing of her parents, she began working for the City of Natoma.

Linda loved spending time with her children especially when they all visited together. She looked forward to the summers when she got her grandson, Connor, all to herself. Linda enjoyed "antiquing", she enjoyed going to auctions, she enjoyed all kinds of crafts from flower arranging to glue and ribbon projects. In just the last couple of years, she re-imagined and renewed the Natoma Library with the help of the community. She enjoyed helping and taking care of others.

Surviving family include her three children: Gregory Sharits and wife Michelle of Star, ID., Kimberly Sharits Graham and husband Chris of Maiden, NC., Kristine Hamilton and husband Terry of Crystal River, FL.; brother, Larry Pfortmiller of Natoma, KS.; sister, Gayla Wichman and husband Ross of Ellis, KS.; brother Louis Pfortmiller and wife Carla of Lawrence, KS.; her grandchildren, Sarah Joyce, Melissa Gayle, Courtney Gail, Connor William, Elizabeth Rose and Victoria Joan; her great-granddaughter Zowee Rosetta and her four legged kids and grandpups, Snoopy, Tucker, China, Merry, and Odin. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son.

Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Lucas, Kansas.  A private family interment of ashes will follow at a later date.  Signing of the book may be done Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell from 9 AM to 5 PM.  A memorial has been established with the Natoma City Library.  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, who is in charge of these arrangements.
