Helen Marcile Broadie Tucker,99, of Florence, Colorado and formerly of Natoma, Kansas died Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Forgetmenot Care Home in Florence, Colorado.

Marcile was born January 29, 1913, in Ashland, Kansas, the daughter of Hallie(Baker)and Elmer Broadie.  She grew up on the family ranch south of Ashland and graduated from Ashland High School.  She then attended Ft. Hays State University where she obtained her Teaching Certificate.  Marcile was united in marriage to Stephen Randall Tucker on August 10, 1933 in Coldwater, Kansas.  They made their home in Codell and raised their family there.  After selling their farm they relocated to Natoma.

Marcile's love of teaching started in a one room schoolhouse known as Saline Valley School.  After her children were older she began teaching again at the  Craig and Blue Hill Schools south of Natoma.  Later she taught 1st Grade at Natoma Elementary for many years before retiring.
 
Marcile was a member of the Natoma United Methodist Church.  She also belonged to Delta Kappa Gamma, Sigma Sigma Sigma social sorority at Ft. Hays University and the Order of the Eastern Star.  She was a dedicated 4-H leader for many years and devoted herself to her church and community.

Surviving family include her daughter, Beverly (Manny) C'deBaca of Canon City, Colorado; granddaughters Traci(Steve)Tankersley of Leoti, Kansas and Tori Tucker(Dale)Styner of Vancouver, B.C. Canada; grandsons Vince(Kelly)Spradling of Littleton, Co. and Scott(Alicia)Spradling of Oswego, Ks. Great-grandchildren are Elizabeth Tankersley, Claire Spradling, Amelia and Huxley Styner and step-granddaughters Riley and Darian Davis and her sister-in-law Phyllis Broadie of Lenexa, Ks.

She was preceeded  by her husband Randall in 1997, son Michael, three infant sons, parents Hallie and E.R. Broadie, sisters Hallie Marie Leben and Margaret Keller, brothers Raymond and Harold Broadie and great-grandson Nicholas Tankersley.

Celebration of Marcile's Life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at the Natoma United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow at the Plainville City Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Monday, September 17, 2012 at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Morturary in Natoma.  A memorial has been established with Natoma School Library.  Contributions and condolences may be send to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Natoma, Kansas, who is in charge of these arrangements.
