Judy Carolyn Foster, 71, of Russell, Kansas, died on Friday, September 28, 2012, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.
Judy was born on November 19, 1940 in Great Bend, Kansas the daughter of Ed and Esther (Galyardt) Michaelis. She grew up and attended school in the Russell County area and graduated from Russell High School in 1958. She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Larry D. Foster on August 21, 1966 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Russell. From this union they were blessed with three children Mark, Mike, and Marci. Judy worked in the home health field for a number of years. Later she worked as a respiratory therapist at the Russell City Hospital for many years before retiring in 1992. She attended the Trinity United Methodist Church and enjoyed spending time doing needlework, crocheting, crafts and collecting tea pots. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Judy is survived by her husband Larry of the home, sons Mark A. Foster and wife Lisa of Norton, Kansas and Mike D. Foster and wife Teresa of Lawrence, Kansas; daughter Marci L. Drake and husband Jason of Russell, Kansas; brother Dwane Michaelis of Dallas, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Judy’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary Chapel in Russell, Kansas with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating. A public viewing for Judy will take place from 10 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Monday, October 1, 2012, at the mortuary. Family will be present to greet visitors from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. Monday evening at the mortuary. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association and sent in care of the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
