Julian H. Gonzales, 46 of Russell died Saturday evening, October 6, 2012 from a motorcycle accident north of Great Bend, Kansas.
Julian was born July 2, 1966 in Tulia, Texas the son of Larry and Mary Karlin ( Garcia ) Gonzales. At the age of 2, Julian and his family moved to Goodland, Kansas where he grew up and attended schools.
Julian met and fell in love with Vicky Werth. They were together for seven years before they were united in marriage on June 16, 1993 in Victoria, Kansas. This union was blessed with four children; Nathaniel, Randalynn, Ricky and Ross. They made their home in Hays, Gorham, Victoria and finally moved to Russell in 1997.
Julian started out working for Brian Reddig with his best friend Rick Mayberry on the pulling unit. Then he worked for Craig Oil as a pumper and rig operator. He worked in the oil patch for many years before going to work for Mike Weigel Construction.
Growing up Julian attended Catholic Church. He also was a proud and active member of The Men MC – Kansas Chapter. Julian had a strong love for motorcycles and lived and breathed for the brotherhood. He enjoyed barbeques and spending time with his grandchildren whom he adored.
Surviving family include his wife Vicky of the home; daughter, Randalynn Werth (Bryan) of Victoria, Kansas; three sons, Nathaniel Rollett (Rachael) of St. Joseph, Missouri, Ricky Gonzales (Sarai) and Ross Gonzales both of Russell, Kansas; mother, Mary Karlin of Hays, Kansas; two brothers, Austin Sepeda of Phoenix, Arizona and Mark Sepeda of Seattle, Washington; sister, Rose Rodriquez of Dallas, Texas; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Larry Gonzales, stepfather Alfred Karlin, brother Ricky Gonzales and grandson Brody Ehrlich.
Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, October 11, 2012 at St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church of Russell. Burial will follow at the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Russell. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 5 PM Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary. A Vigil and Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM Wednesday evening at St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church. A memorial has been established as the Julian Gonzales Memorial Fund.
