Floris Wilma Urban, 96, of Russell, Kansas, died on Thursday, November 29, 2012, at the Hays Good Samaritan Society in Hays, Kansas.

Floris was born on June 28, 1916, in Graham County, Kansas, the daughter of Alva John and Ruby Violet (Tolman) Bush.  When she was 6 years old her family moved to Bunker Hill, Kansas, where she attended local schools and graduated from Bunker Hill High School in 1936.  She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Simon J. Urban on December 30, 1940, in Russell, Kansas.  From this union Floris and Simon were blessed with three children Simone, Elizabeth and James.  She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.  She was a long time member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church.  She enjoyed embroidery, knitting, quilting, gardening, farming, and spending time with friends.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her many grandchildren.

Surviving family include her daughters Simone Ginther and husband Don of Waldo, Kansas and Elizabeth “Betty” Mead and husband Ron of Paradise, Kansas; son James J. “Jim” Urban and wife Dianne of Liberal, Kansas; 10 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Simon on March 10, 1992, brothers Clinton, Clayton, Larry, Darrell and Gail Bush; sisters Lea Heffel, Doris Harbaugh and Opal Sawyer; grandson Kenneth Ginther and 2 infant sisters and 1 infant brother.

A celebration of the funeral mass for Floris will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at the St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Russell with Father Charles Steier officiating.  Burial will follow at the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Russell, Kansas.  The vigil service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Monday, December 3, 2012, at St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church.  Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. on Monday, December 3, 2012, at the mortuary.  Memorials may be given to the Hays Good Samaritan Society and sent in care of the mortuary.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the memorial service arrangements.
