Don J. Revell, 77, of Russell, Kansas, died Sunday morning, December 9, 2012 at his home.

Don was born January 9, 1935 in Seminole, Oklahoma, the son of Cleo O. and Minnie (Thomas) Revell.  He grew up in Ellinwood, Kansas and later moved to Great Bend, Kansas where he graduated from high school.

Don was united in marriage to Carol Stos on May 14, 1955 in Raton, New Mexico.  This union was blessed with three sons; Donnie, Terry and Roy Alan.

Don started out working as a truck pusher for several companies in Great Bend, Kansas before buying into Kennard Lease Service, and moving to Russell, Kansas in 1968, when he bought out his partners, and changed the name to Revell Oil Field Construction.  He also owned and operated Key Petroleum & Exploration, and was also a co-owner of Revlin Drilling.  He retired from the trucking and oil business in 2000.

Don enjoyed his grand daughters, and great grandkids, and enjoyed riding horse which he participated in many saddle club parades and trail rides over the years.  He was also an avid gun collector, and loved watching old western movies on TV in the later years.  He had been a member of the Russell #177 Blue Lodge, and was also a member of the Isis Shrine Temple, and Russell Shrine Club until the past few years.

Surviving family includes his wife of 57 years, Carol of the home; sons, Donnie Revell of Russell, Kansas and Terry Revell and wife Nancy of Winfield, Kansas; granddaughters, Tara Duncan (Taylor) and Sadie Revell all of Winfield, Kansas; and great grandchildren, Ella Jane and Grady.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Roy Alan Revell; brother, Cleo Revell, Jr.; and sister, Zaylon Buhrle.

Celebration of Don’s Life will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating.  Private family burial of ashes will take place at a later date.  Friends may sign the book at the mortuary from 9 AM to 5 PM on Friday, December 14, 2012.  Memorials have been established with the Russell Dream Theater and the Russell County Food Pantry.  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
