Patricia “Patty” Krueger, 84 of Russell died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Main Street Manor in Russell, Kansas.

Patty was born June 22, 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Hiram and Irene (Hoyle) Wentworth.  She grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in 1946.  She then attended Kansas State University from 1946 to 48, where she was pledged to Delta Delta Delta Sorority. 

Following college, Patricia returned to Russell where she taught at a country school for a year, and later worked for the Jane Harris Bridal and Dress Shop.  She was a 1951 Prairiesta Queen candidate.  Patty met, and fell in love with Roy R. Krueger, and they married on New Year’s Day in 1955.  This union was blessed with two daughters; Dana and Lisa.  After her marriage, Patty was a dedicated and devoted mother, homemaker and later on loving grandmother.

Patricia was an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.  She was active in the Love Circle and the Thrift Store.  Patty belonged to the New Deal Bridge Club for over 50 years.  In 1973, Patty had a one-line speaking role in the movie ‘Paper Moon’ that was filmed near Russell.  She loved to play Scrabble with her daughters, and enjoyed trips to casinos, where she was often lucky.  She enjoyed playing cards and watching KU and KState games on TV, and also enjoyed watching NFL games when ‘her teams’ in the football pool were playing.

Surviving family include her husband of 58 years, Roy of the home; daughters, Dana Snook and husband Dan of Dusseldorf, Germany and Lisa Kinyon and husband Darren of Wichita, Kansas; and four grandchildren; Brandon Snook, Cody Snook, Jerrod Kinyon and Jami Kinyon.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Celebration of Patricia’s Life will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at Trinity United Methodist Church.  Burial of ashes will follow at the Russell City Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8PM Monday, February 4, 2013 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell. Memorials have been established with Trinity United Methodist Church or Main Street Manor.  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
