Mark Leon “Shorty” Dumler, 62, of Gorham, Kansas, died on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at his home in Gorham.
Mark was born on November 04, 1950, in Russell, Kansas, the son of Leon and Wilmetta (Herber) Dumler. Mark grew up in Gorham until the 8th grade when he started attending Russell schools. He graduated from Russell High School in the class of 1968. After high school, he attended Hutchinson Community College where he received his degree in agriculture. He met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Kristina D. Thomas on August 24, 1999 in Russell. He loved managing and working his farm and harvesting his wheat. He also worked for J.P. Pipeline for 8 years. He was a member of the Elks, Sons of the American Legion and the V.F.W. Son’s Auxiliary. He enjoyed being a cars guru, shooting pool, golf, collecting baseball cards, Kansas State University sports and John Deere tractors and equipment. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving family include his wife Kris of the home, daughter Tracial Dumler of Hutchinson, Kansas; stepsons Tyler Wagner and wife Kim of Gorham and Jordan Wagner and wife Jen of Wilson, Kansas; 7 grandchildren Abigail, Gabby, Kelley, Ryleigh, Taylar, Taytn, and Jaxson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of Mark’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating. Cremation has preceded the services. Inurnment of the cremains will be held at a later date. Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Tuesday, April 23, 2013at the mortuary with family present to greet guests from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. Tuesday evening. Memorials may be given to the Elk’s Ketch and sent in care of the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
