Florence Marjorie (Flossie) Mighell, 93, of Russell, Kansas, died on Monday, May 06, 2013, at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, Kansas.

Florence was born on November 09, 1919, in Ida County, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Myrtle (Sonnenberg) Schroeder.  She grew up and attended school in Holstein, Iowa.  She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Harvey Newton Mighell on December 12, 1942 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  From this union Florence and Harvey were blessed with two children James and Linda. She loved looking for and collecting antiques, operating Flossie’s Antiques Shoppe in Russell for many years, and eventually authored a collector’s book on toothpick holders. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Surviving family include her son James L. Mighell and wife Marlene of Russell; daughter Linda Miller and husband Tim of Hays, Kansas; stepson John Mighell of Anaheim, California; 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harvey on October 10, 1970; stepson Roger Mighell and wife Marjorie and two brothers Doug and Del Schroeder.

A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.  Memorials may be given to the Humane Society of the High Plains.  Memorials and condolences may be sent in care of the mortuary.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the memorial service.
