Reinhold Julius Wegele, 84 of Russell, Kansas died Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Ellsworth County Medical Center in Ellsworth, Kansas.
Reinhold was born July 10, 1929 in Russell, Kansas the son of Henry and Marie Katherine (Mai) Wegele. He grew up and attended school in the Milberger area.
Reinhold was united in marriage to Alvina Schaffer on October 15, 1960 in Russell. She preceded him in death in October, 1990. Later he was united in marriage to Neva (Reich) Olson on August 14, 1993 in Russell. Neva preceded him in death on April 23, 2012.
Reinhold was a farmer and also worked on a pulling unit in the oil patch. He was also active with Meals on Wheels for over ten years delivering to Luray and the Russell area. He has lived his whole life in the Russell area.
Reinhold was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Russell. He enjoyed fishing, polka dancing, driving around town in his truck and chatting with family and friends.
Reinhold’s surviving family include three step sons, Ray Olson (Angie) of Russell, Kansas, Larry Olson (Marie) of Shoals, Alabama and Dwight Olson (Sylvia) of San Diego, California; brother, Melvin Wegele of Wichita, Kansas; sister, Shirley Watts of San Antonio, Texas; sister-in-law, Nadeen Wegele of Newton, Kansas; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, step son Ture Olson, brother Victor Wegele and sister Leona Ryan.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 14, 2013 at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating. Burial of ashes will follow at the Russell City Cemetery. Friends may sign the register book from 9 AM to 5 PM Friday, October 11, 2013 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell. A Memorial has been established with Disabled American Veterans.
