Ruth Clara (Williams) Colhour
, 93 of Russell died Monday, July 21, 2008 at the Russell Regional Hospital.  Ruth was born April 1, 1915 on a farm near Russell, KS, the daughter of William E. and Mary Marie (Mohl) Williams.  She grew up in the rural Russell area and attended Fossil Creek Rural School and later graduated from Russell High School.

 

Ruth was united in marriage to Emmett Bruce Colhour on June 2, 1935 at a home in Russell County.  This union was blessed with two children, Dianne and Donald.   Bruce preceded her in death on June 26, 2005.

 

She was a lifelong Russell area resident.  She was employed with Walizer Motor Company, Witchers Studio, Florence Sharp Dress Shop and for Lewis/Marshall Jewelry Store all in Russell throughout her working career.

 

Ruth’s surviving family include her son, Rev. Donald B. Colhour of Hollywood, CA; daughter, Dianne Farmer and husband John O. III of Russell; sister, Grace Philpot of Wyoming; two grandsons, Mark David Rein and Scott Phillip Rein ; three step-grandchildren, Mr. & Mrs. John O.Farmer IV, Mr. & Mrs. Phillip Prickett and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Farmer; 10 step great-grandchildren, Craig, Courtney, Kelsey, Kyle, Kayla and Cameron Farmer; Josh, Austin, Jessica and Arian Prickett; Abigail and Eva Farmer.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband; two infant sisters, three adult sisters, Dorothy Anschutz, Ethel Heinze and Wilmetta Osborn; and one brother, Jack W. Williams.

 

Celebration of Ruth’s Life will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 24, 2008 at the First Congregational Church of Russell with Rev. Don Colhour and Rev. James Alexander Officiating.  Interment will follow at Russell City Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Wednesday, July 23 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell with the family present to greet friends from 6 PM to 8 PM.  A memorial has been established with First Congregational Church of Russell.  Contributions and condolences may be left with Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary who are in charge of these arrangements.
