Elaine Hovorka, 58 died Monday, July 29, 2008  at the Hemingford Community Care Center in Hemingford, NE.
She was born April 30, 1950 in Russell, Kansas to Marvin and Helen (Boxbergle) Bender. Elaine graduated from Russell High School in 1968. She was a graduate of Emporia State College in Emporia, KS and taught 2nd and 3rd grade at Lucas Luray Kansas Elementary School.
On August 24, 1980 she was united in marriage to John J. Hovorka in Russell.
They made their home on their ranch west of Hemingford. She was a member of St. John’s United Lutheran Church where she was active with the Youth Choir and church service groups.
She was preceded in death by her husband John on February 4, 1997, twin infant children, John J. Hovorka Jr. and Faith Hope Hovorka on March 13, 1992, an infant in 1993, her parents and brother-in-law Frank Hovorka.
Her survivors include her brother Larry (Dona) Bender of Russell, KS, sisters Wanda Dimitt of Russell, and Joyce (Loren) Bentley of Cabool, MO, nieces June Neal of Leavenworth, KS, Heidi Middleton, nephews Shawn Dimitt, Shreve Bentley of Branson, MO, great-nephews Sebastin and T-Shean Neal of Leavenworth, KS, aunts Esther Fleishman of Colorado and Tillie Prather of Oklahoma.
Memorials may be given to Bender Hill Cemetery and may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary * 610 N. Maple * Russell, KS 67665.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s United Lutheran Church in Alliance. Burial will be in the Hemingford Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Alliance. Online condolences may be left at www.batesgould.com.
