David Dean Brandenburg, 81, of Okmulgee, Oklahoma and former Russell resident, died on Friday, November 7 2008 in Okmulgee. He was born on October 27, 1927 in Greenfield, Kansas the son of Earl Dean and Ethel (McConnell) Brandenburg.
Later David and his family moved to Russell, Kansas where he spent most of his childhood. He attended Russell public schools and graduated from Russell High School with the class of 1945. He met and fell in love with F. Maxine Ward and were united in marriage on April 6, 1957 in Attica, Kansas. David worked most of his life as a parts manager for oil field and auto parts supply companies and retired in the 1990’s. He was a member of the Methodist Church and Elks Lodge in Okmulgee where he and his wife have lived for over 30 years.
His surviving family includes his wife F. Maxine of the home; step-daughter Jacque Hillen-Jacobsen of Phoenix, Arizona; sister in-law Myrna Christiansen of Salina; nephews Alan Brandenburg and wife Deana of Bruning, Nebraska and Eldon Brandenburg and wife Patty of Dodge City, Kansas; nieces Beverly Pohl and husband Terry of Louisville, Kentucky and Sandy Reynolds and husband Jim of Salina; step-grandchild Rachel Hillen-Jacobsen; four great nieces and 4 great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert “Bob” Brandenburg.
A Graveside celebration of David’s Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, November 13, 2008 at the Russell City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 7 PM Wednesday November 12th at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary. No memorial has been established.
