Lucile Helena (Keil) Karst Hall, 94 of Hays and formerly of Russell died Sunday, December 7, 2008 at the St. John Assisted Living Center in Hays, Kansas.  Lucile was born July 9, 1914 in Galatia, Kansas.  She was the oldest of ten children born to Benjamin and Bertha (Strecker) Keil.  She grew up in the Galatia and Milberger area and attended schools there.

Lucile was united in marriage to Richard Karst.  He preceded her in death in 1962. This union was blessed with three children; Kay, Gary and Donald.  She then was united in marriage to Joe A. Hall on September 19, 1978.

Lucile was a devoted mother and homemaker through out her life.  She enjoyed sewing and doing all types of crafts, especially stuffed toys. 

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, the V.F.W. Post #6240 Ladies Auxiliary, Kansas Original Crafters and Heartland Crafts.

Surviving family include her husband of 30 years, Joe of the home; daughter, Kay Elsasser and husband Allen of San Antonio, Texas; son, Gary Karst and wife Barbara of Spokane, Washington; two brothers, Leland Keil of Galatia, Kansas and Glen Keil of Russell; four sisters, LaFern Trent and Thelma Gross both of Hays, Kansas, Elsie Herber of Edmund, Oklahoma and Aileen Sanders of Wells, Kansas; 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Donald Karst, one grandson Richard Karst, brothers Clarence Keil and Wayne Keil, and sister Claranetta Brainerd, and her dog Precious.

Celebration of Lucile’s Life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, December 11, 2008 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell.  Interment will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Russell.  Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Wednesday at the mortuary with the family present to greet friends from 6 PM to 7 PM.  Memorials have been established with Hays Hospice or St. John’s Assisted Living Center.  Contributions and condolences may be sent in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary who are in charge of these arrangements.  Condolences may also be sent via email at www.pvpmortuary.com.
