Patricia Ann (Zachary) Jensen, 66 of Russell died Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. Patricia was born February 1, 1942 in Beloit, Kansas the daughter of Gerald and Waneta H. (Guillow) Zachary. She grew up in Lincoln, Kansas and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1961.
Patricia was a devoted mother and wife. But she also was a cook for several cafes, the Russell Elks Lodge, the Russell V.F.W. Post #6240 and the Gutierrez Mexican Restaurant.
She was united in marriage to Albert “Al” Arthur Jensen on June 9, 1961 in Lincoln. This union was blessed with four children; Ron, Scott, Jeanette and Barbara. Al and Pat moved their family to Russell in 1964. Al preceded her in death on December 6, 2006.
Patricia enjoyed playing Bingo, putting together jigsaw puzzles and coloring posters. But the most important thing in her life was her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving family include her two sons, Ron Jensen and wife Debbie of Dodge City, Kansas and Scott Jensen and wife Rachel of Russell; her two daughters, Jeanette Brungardt and husband Mike of Wichita, Kansas and Barbara Gilmore and husband Scott of Chelsea, Oklahoma; sister Phyllis; 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Al.
Celebration of Patricia’s Life will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell. Interment will follow at Russell City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM on Friday at the mortuary. A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
