Clyde Bear, 85 of Russell died Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Main Street Manor of Russell.  Clyde was born August 19, 1923 in Paradise Township, the son of Joseph Edward and Minnie Olivia (Rohe) Bear.  He grew up and attended school in the Paradise Township.

 

Clyde was a farmer and rancher in Paradise until 1966 when he moved to Russell.  He opened a tavern called “The Cub House” and was owner and operator until 1982.

 

He was united in marriage to Dorothy Lee (Cooper) Weinhold on April 9, 1967 in the United Methodist Church in Russell.  Three grown children were brought into this union and one daughter, Cindy, was born to the couple.

 

Clyde was a very innovative person who could fix anything.  He also enjoyed hunting for arrowheads and shooting pool.

 

Surviving family includes his wife of 41 years, Dorothy of the home; daughters, Cindy Bear of Wichita and Georgia Lee Moser and husband Jim of Norton, KS; sons, Evert Weinhold and wife Wilma of Cincinnati, OH. and Peary Weinhold and wife Laura of Kanopolis, KS; brother-in-law, Randall Howard of Augusta, KS; 6 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Irene McKee, Agnes Ward and Betty Jo Howard.

 

Celebration of Clyde’s Life will be at 11:00 am Friday, Jan. 16, 2009 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell.  Interment will follow at Russell City Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm Thursday at the mortuary.  Memorials have been established with South Wind Hospice and Parkside Manor of Russell.  Contributions and condolences may be sent in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary.  Condolences may also be sent via email at www.pvpmortuary .
