William L. “Bill” Wagner, 63 of Salina died Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at Salina Regional Hospital in Salina, Kansas
Bill was born October 28, 1945 in Hays, Kansas the son of Herbert and Leona (Randa) Wagner. He grew up in Walker and attended schools in Victoria, Kansas.
Bill served his country in the United States Army from 1965 to 1969 and is a Vietnam Veteran. After his tour of duty, Bill returned to the Russell area.
Bill worked for the City of Russell in the electrical department. He was the owner and operator of Wagner’s Water Well Drilling and Service. He also was an electrician for IBP of Garden City.
His surviving family includes his son, Eric Wagner and wife Jennifer of Hays with three children; Zachary, Lauren and Adelyn; daughter, Annette (Wagner) Anschutz and husband Michael of Russell with son Jared; and daughter, Tonya (Wagner) Montgomery and husband Chris of Salina with two children; Easton and Erica.
Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, February 13, 2009 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Walker with Fr. Michael Scully officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery in Walker. The Russell V.F.W. Post #6240 will be conducting Military Rites. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Thursday at the Mortuary with the family present to greet friends from 6:30 PM to 8 PM. A memorial has been established with the Russell County Veterans Memorial.
