Lawrence H. Koelling, 74 of Paradise died Saturday, February 21, 2009 at his residence. Lawrence was born April 6, 1934 in Hays, Kansas the son of Henry, Jr. and Esther (Schloh) Koelling. He grew up in Kill Creek Township, Osborne County on the family farm and attended a country school.
Lawrence was a farmer and rancher his whole life. He also started the Bar K Seed & Feed Co. in 1983. He has lived most all of his life in the Osborne County area.
Lawrence was united in marriage to Barbara Conway on May 5, 1957 in Osborne, Kansas. This union was blessed with three sons, Keith, Kirk and Kyle.
He was a member of N.R.A. He also was a founding member of the Jayhawk Monitor Club. He enjoyed being outside, hunting and fishing. He loved being in the public and talking with friends.
Surviving family include his wife of 51 years, Barbara of the home; three sons, Keith Koelling and Kirk Koelling both of Paradise, Kansas and Kyle Koelling and wife Becky of Natoma, Kansas; sister, Marilyn Hanberg and husband Don of Essex, Connecticut; and two grandchildren, Ethan and Hannah Koelling. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Celebration of Lawrence’s Life will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at the Natoma United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Natoma City Cemetery. There will be no viewing or visitation per family request. Memorials have been established with the Hospice Services, Inc. of Phillipsburg and the Natoma Baseball Committee.
