Alan Wayne Dolezal, 57 of Wilson and formerly of Russell died Saturday, March 28, 2009 at his home in Wilson. Alan was born October 17, 1951 in Great Bend, KS.  In 1960, Alan’s family moved to Russell.  He graduated from Russell High School in 1969.  During his senior year, Alan was the undefeated heavy weight State Champion in Wrestling. He graduated from Ft. Hays State University with a degree in Communications.

Alan was united in marriage to Sandra Taylor on January 13, 1975 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  This union was blessed with three children; Kelly, Katie and Jake.  They made their home in Russell until 1988 when they moved to Bucklin, KS.  They also lived in Edmond, OK and returned to Wilson, KS in 2009.

Alan was a man who dedicated his life to helping those people with a drug and alcohol problem.  He was the Director of the Drug and Alcohol Day Reporting Center in Dodge City.  He was the Drug and Alcohol Counselor for the Ellsworth Prison.  He worked at the Federal Bureau Prison House in Wichita, KS.  He also was a PR representative for National Oil Well.  Because of Alan’s efforts in his profession, many people gained a new life.

Alan was a member of Alcohol Anonymous.  He loved hunting, fishing and playing softball.

Surviving family include his wife of 34 years, Sandra of the home; daughters, Kelly Whitmer and husband Tim of Wilson and Katie Bilbrey and husband Tim of Russell; son, Jake Dolezal and wife Lorie of Mooreland, KS; father, Wayne Dolezal and wife Oleda of Russell; mother, Lois Craig of Manhattan, KS; brother, John Dolezal of Skiatook, OK; sisters, Linda Keller and Laura Jones both of Manhattan, KS; and 6 grandchildren, Madison, Tayden, Waylon, Trayson, Cole and Sydnie.
