Glenn Edward Becker, 79 of Russell died Thursday, April 2, 2009 at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell. Glenn was born November 14, 1929 in Russell, the son of Edward and Lena (Boxberger) Becker.  He grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in 1948.   

Glenn was united in marriage to Naomi Jeanne Wheat on May 1, 1949 in Russell. This union was blessed with a son, Bradley. 

Glenn was a farmer when he was young. Shortly after getting married he started working in the oil fields doing whatever needed done.  He then purchased and operated the Derby Service Station.  Later in life, Jeanne and Glenn started remodeling homes.  This was a passion they both shared until her death on March 26, 2007.

When he was young, Glenn was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.  He later joined the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Russell.  He was involved with the Knights of Columbus, the Russell Masonic Lodge, Russell Shrine Club, the Isis Temple in Salina and the Thursday morning crowd from St. Marys.  He enjoyed traveling, camping and remodeling with Jeanne. 

Surviving family include his son, Bradley Becker and wife Cindy of Grandview, Missouri; two granddaughters, Cassaudra Lambeth and Madeana Galler; and three great grandchildren, Braylin Lambeth, Adora Lewis and Malaki Lewis.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Don Becker. 

Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held at 2:30 P.M. Monday, April 6, 2009 at the St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church of Russell with Fr. Charles Steier officiating.  Burial will follow at Russell City Cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday, Noon to 8 PM at the mortuary with the family present to greet friends from 6 PM to 7 PM.  A memorial has been established with the St. Mary’s Building Fund.  Contributions and condolences may be sent in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell who is in charge of these arrangements.  Condolences may also be sent via email at www.pvpmortuary.com.
