Earlin P. Nuss, 80 of Russell died Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita. Earlin was born March 16, 1929 in Russell County, the son of Edward and Amelia (Karst) Nuss. He grew up in the Milberger area. He graduated from Russell High School in 1947.
Earlin served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. After his service he returned to the Milberger and Russell area where he has lived all of his life.
Earlin was a farmer and stockman all of his life. He also was a motor grader operator for Lincoln Township. Later in life he was a contract pumper for MG Oil.
Earlin was united in marriage to Deloris Keil on April 19, 1959 in Milberger. This union was blessed with two children, Keith and Kathy.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Russell. He also belonged to the American Legion Post # 99 and a life member of Russell V.F.W. Post #6240. Earlin was a Christian man that believed in hard work and taking care of his family. One of the greatest loves was his grandchildren, he received such joy in watching them grow up.
Family he leaves behind is his wife of 50 years, Deloris of the home; son, Keith Nuss and wife Tambra of Milberger; daughter, Kathy Axman and husband Joe of Olmitz, Kansas; twin brother, Eugene Nuss and brother, Leland Nuss both of Russell; sister, Ruth Mai of Russell; and 6 grandchildren, triplets Aaron, Jacob and Jared Nuss, Stephanie Nuss, Justin Axman and Jenifer Axman. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Delmar.
Celebration of Earlin’s Life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at St. John Lutheran Church of Russell with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating. Interment will follow at the Russell City Cemetery where Military Rites will be conducted. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Monday, April 27, 2009 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell with the family present to greet friends from 6 PM to 7 PM. Memorials have been established with St. John Lutheran Church or Russell V.F.W. Post #6240.
