Robert Wendelin Dreiling, 82 of Russell died Sunday, April 26, 2009 at the Russell Regional Hospital.  Bob was born May 17, 1926 in Victoria, the son of Alphonse and Melosena (Sander) Dreiling.  He grew up in Victoria and graduated from Victoria High School.

 

Bob served his country in the U.S. Army Infantry during WWII.  He was stationed in the Philippines and spent a year in Japan with the occupational forces.

 

Bob was united in marriage to Thelma M. Weigel on November 8, 1948 at the St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Victoria.  This union was blessed with one son, Ronald.

 

Bob worked in the flour mills in Hays and Russell.  He worked in the oilfield supply business in Russell and Gillette, Wyoming till 1985.  While living in Denver he worked at the Lumber Yard and Builders Square as well as managing an apartment complex.  After retiring in 1997, Bob and Thelma moved back to Russell.

 

He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Russell and the Knights of Columbus.  He loved to sing in the choirs at Gillette, Victoria and Russell.  He was a life member of the Russell V.F.W. Post #6240, the American Legion Post #99 and Eagles Club.  Bob always enjoyed a good joke and loved playing practical jokes on family and friends.  He enjoyed playing golf and bowling.

 

Surviving family includes his wife of 60 years, Thelma “Tommie” of the home; son, Ronald Dreiling of Phoenix, Arizona; brother, Allen Paul of Victoria and sisters, Heraldine Kreutzer and Agnes may Karlin both of Denver, Colorado.

 

Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church of Russell.  Military Rites will be conducted by the Russell V.F.W. Post #6240 Honor Guard.  Cremation will follow the services.  A Vigil will be held at 7 PM Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church.  Visitation will be from 9 AM to 5 PM Tuesday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary.  A memorial has been established with the St. Mary Catholic Church Building Fund.  Contributions and condolences may be sent in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary who is in charge of these arrangements.
