Amanda Jo Wiley, 10, of Russell, died on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at the Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas as a result of an auto accident.
Amanda was born on January 12, 1999 in Leavenworth, Kansas, the daughter of Pete and Anita (Gfeller) Wiley. She grew up in the Leavenworth area until she and her family moved to Russell, Kansas in 2006. She was a 4th grade student at Bickerdyke Elementary; she enjoyed school and was a good student. She also enjoyed swimming, her stuffed animals, adding to her rock collection and playing with her friends. Most of all she enjoyed playing games and spending time with her family.
Those she leaves behind are her parents, sisters Alexandra Nicole and Ashley Elizabeth all of Russell; paternal grandparents Ed & Donna Wiley and maternal grandmother jeanette Gfeller of Russell.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Harley Gfeller and Uncles Lloyd and Roger Gfeller.
A graveside service of remembrance will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at the Russell City Cemetery with burial following the service. There will be no viewing or visitation scheduled at this time. A full memorial service will be held at a later date. The family has requested that memorials be given to the Wiley Family Care Fund.
