Florence Faye (Fangmeier) Risher, 83 of Russell died Friday, July 17, 2009 at the South Wind Hospice Home in Pratt, KS. Florence was born April 7, 1926 in Havana, Illinois, the daughter of John Henry Harmon and Florence Ethel (Fink) Fangmeier. She grew up in Havana, Mason City and Easton, Illinois. She graduated from Easton High School in 1944.
Florence was united in marriage to Basile Risher on March 19, 1944 in Easton, Illinois. This union was blessed with eleven children; Steve, Linda, Bonnie, Penny, Jeff, Carol, Danny, Roger, Kim, Tom and Jerry.
Florence and her family lived in Fremont, California, Magnolia and Desha, Arkansas and moved to the Russell area in 1978. She was a devoted wife and homemaker. She also sold Tupperware, was a caregiver and nanny in California and a telephone marketer.
She enjoyed cooking, country music, reading, crafts, ceramics, fishing, and taking long rides in the country.
Her surviving family include seven sons, Steve Risher of Russell, Jeff Risher of Lamar, Missouri, Danny Risher, Roger Risher and Kim Risher all of Batesville, Arkansas, Tom Risher and wife Janet of Sonora, California and Jerry Risher of Fairfield, California; four daughters, Carol Reynolds and husband Gary of Russell, Linda Bettencourt of Colorado, Bonnie Hallas and husband Nelson of Lamar, Missouri, and Penny Felkner of Lamar, Missouri; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Basile on November 9, 1996; four brothers, Gerald, Joe, Eugene and Roy; and three sisters, Mildred Page, Elva Fangmeier and Dorothy Havens.
The family will be present to greet friends from 10 AM to 11 AM Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell. Cremation has preceded the services. A memorial has been established with South Wind Hospice of Pratt. Contributions and condolences may be sent in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary who is in charge of these arrangements.
