Kathryn Elizabeth (Ehrlich) Edwards, 102 of Russell died Sunday, July 19, 2009 at the Main Street Manor in Russell. Kathryn was born June 25, 1907 in Tscherbakowka, Russia, the daughter of George J. and Mollie (Ehrlich) Ehrlich. Her family moved to the Russell area in 1911 where she grew up.
Kathryn was united in marriage to McKinley Roy Edwards on May 15, 1949 in Limon, Colorado. This union was blessed with a daughter, Karen Sue. They lived in Hesston, Kansas for a short time before returning to Russell. McKinley preceded her in death on January 4, 1975.
Kathryn’s life was devoted to taking care of her daughter and her family.
She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church of Russell.
She is survived by her daughter Karen Sue Edwards of Ellsworth, Kansas and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, David, August, Alec, Emanuel, Ferdinand and Gottfried; and sisters, Mollie Loving and Lydia Stephenson.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell. Interment will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Russell. Visitation will be from 8 AM to service time on Wednesday. A Memorial has been established with Main Street Manor. Contributions and condolences may be sent in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
