Gail J. Kindler, 87 of Russell died Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Main Street Manor in Russell. Gail was born December 6, 1921 in Esbon, Kansas, the son of John Lester and Rose Nell (Nebel) Kindler. He grew up on the family farm outside Esbon and attended the Kindler School, which was located on the farm. He graduated from Esbon High School.
Gail was united in marriage to Agnes Helen Mizner on May 28, 1943 in Mankato, Kansas. They lived in Esbon until 1951 when the building they lived in burned down. They moved to Long Beach, California where Gail worked for McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft Co. for over 30 years. After retiring, Gail and Agnes moved to Russell in 1984 and have lived here since. Gail also was a farmer before moving to California.
Gail enjoyed reading and studying maps, attending polka dances and cheering on his beloved Los Angeles Dodgers.
Surviving family include his wife of 66 years, Agnes of the home; sister Nila Mae Emmert of Russell; and 19 nieces and nephews, his children by heart. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lyle Kindler; and one nephew.
Celebration of Gail’s Life will be held at 11:30 A.M. Thursday, September 17, 2009 at the Esbon Cemetery in Esbon, Kansas. A gathering will be held following the graveside service at the Esbon Senior Center. There is no viewing due to cremation. A memorial has been established with the Esbon Senior Center. Contributions and condolences may be sent in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, who is in charge of these arrangements.
