Karen Sue Page, 51 of Russell died Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at the Newton Medical Center in Newton, Kansas. Karen was born March 20, 1956 in Russell, the daughter of Howard and Josephine (Walters ) Lyle.
Karen grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in 1974.
Karen was presently the Club Manager at the Russell V.F.W. Post #6240. She also was a bartender for the American Legion Post #99. Earlier in life she was a CNA for Russell Hospital for 20 years. She was also involved with the Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas in Russell as a House Supervisor.
Karen was a social butterfly that loved spending time with friends. She was a great listener and was always able to put a smile on everyone’s face.
Karen is survived by her daughter, Cristal Meyer and husband Craig of Mt. Hope, Kansas; two grandchildren, Blake & Payton Meyer of Mt. Hope, Kansas; and her companion, Joe Berens of Russell. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Karen’s Life is scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell. Interment will follow the services at the Russell City Cemetery. Visitation will be all day Monday from 8 AM to 8 PM at the Mortuary with the family present to greet friends from 6 PM to 7 PM Monday evening. A memorial has been established as the Karen Page Memorial Fund. Contributions and condolences may be left with Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary who is in charge of these arrangements.
