Cleo Beatrice Judy, 93, of Russell, Kansas died on Friday, November 13, 2009 at the Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell.

Beatrice was born during the hot summer months on August 26, 1916 in Tribbey, Oklahoma, the daughter of George W. and Susan E. (Giddens) Thompson.  She grew up and attended school in the Tribbey area and also lived in Ellsworth and Hays before settling down in Russell.  She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to James F. Judy on July 12, 1931 in Lexington, Oklahoma.  From this union they were blessed with a daughter they named Virginia.  James preceded Beatrice in death on January 13, 1988.  Beatrice was a long time member of the First Congregational Church of Russell, Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years and a few camper clubs.  She was very skilled and blessed with many talents; she enjoyed oil painting, sewing, knitting and crocheting.  Most of all she enjoyed being a homemaker taking care of her family, she especially enjoyed seeing and visiting with her many grandchildren.  She will be remembered as a kind and gentle woman, who always had a warm personality and loving smile to welcome her friends and family.

Surviving family include her daughter Virginia Holecek and husband Richard of Russell, brother Doyle A. Thompson of La Habra, California; sister Wilma Lea Cunningham of Cave Creek, Arizona; 4 grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren and 18 Great-Great Grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her Parents, infant son, 3 brothers, 1 sister and a grandson.

A Celebration of Beatrice’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Jim Alexander officiating.  Burial will follow at the Russell City Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Monday, November 16, 2009 at the mortuary, with the family present from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M Monday evening. Memorials may be given to the Wheatland Nursing Center of Russell and may be sent in care of the mortuary.  Condolences may be sent via email by going to www.pvpmortuary.com.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the arrangements.
