Charles L. Boardman, 82 of Russell and formerly of Cimarron, Kansas died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at his home.
Charles was born December 3, 1927 in Ringwood, Oklahoma the son of Glenn and Anna Ruth (Fisher) Boardman. He grew up in the Ringwood and Alva, Oklahoma area. He graduated from the Wesleyan College in Miltonville, Kansas.
Charles served his country in the United States Air Force from 1950 thru 1951. While in the military, Charles met the love of his life, Neva Hoover. They were united in marriage on April 20, 1951 at the McCord Air Force Base in Washington State. This union was blessed with six children; Dawn, Carla, Carmen, Candace, Charles and Clay. Neva preceded him in death on December 27, 2003.
After his military service, Charles was a Nazarene Minister for several towns in Washington. In 1956, Charles and his family moved to Broken Bow, Oklahoma where he continued his ministry for several years in the state of Oklahoma. In 1963 he had to retire due to health conditions and moved to Cimarron, Kansas.
Charles was a member of the United Methodist Church of Cimarron and a life member of the American Legion. He loved reading and working with wood.
Surviving family includes his children; Dawn Grantham and husband John of Ulysses, Kansas, Carla Swagerty and husband Craig of Moore, Oklahoma, Carmen Boehm of Russell, Kansas, Candace Collette and husband Brad of Indianapolis, Kansas, Charles D. Boardman and wife Norma of Lyons, Kansas and Clay Boardman of Cimarron, Kansas; brother, Marvin Boardman of Lorraine, Kansas; two sisters, Marie Moore of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Muriel Boller of Topeka, Kansas; 16 Grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 19, 2009 at the Cimarron Cemetery in Cimarron, Kansas. Private viewing by family only.
