Janet Lynn (Baral) Thacker, 58 of Russell died Saturday, December 19, 2009 at her home.

 

Janet was born July 6, 1951 in Russell, the daughter of Floyd and Alice (Wilkerson) Baral.  She grew up in Bunker Hill and graduated from Russell High School.

 

She was united in marriage to Robert Thacker on April 19, 1971 in Hays, Kansas.  This union was blessed with three children, Schon and twins Chastity and Tavi.  They lived in Lawrence, Kansas and the Texas panhandle before moving to Russell in 1984.

 

Janet was a homemaker, devoted grandmother (Nana) and a hair dresser.  She was the owner and operator of the Head Spin salon.  She was a fun loving person that spoiled her family.  She enjoyed traveling, cooking and sunbathing.

 

Surviving family include her husband of 38 years, Robert of the home; son, Schon Thacker and wife Mandi of Overland Park, Kansas; daughters, Chastity Logsdon and husband Tony of Russell, Kansas and Tavi Collins and husband Jason of St. Louis, Missouri; two sisters, Sylvia Heffel of Dorrance, Kansas and Mary Von Feldt of Russell, Kansas; and seven grandchildren, Kavion, Kerrianna, Abrielle, Elijah, Bailee, Layn and Hayden.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Allen and sister Nancy. 

Celebration of Janet’s Life will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at the Otterbein United Methodist Church of Russell with Pastor Earl Haggard officiating.  Interment will follow at the Bunker Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell with the family present to greet friends from 6 PM to 7 PM.  Memorials have been established with Shriner’s Children Hospital and Kansas City Dream Factory.  Contributions and condolences may be sent in care of the Mortuary.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary is in charge of these arrangements.
