Gale Louis Hatcher, 68, of Topeka, and former Russell and Kansas City resident died on Thursday morning, December 31, 2009, at the Manor Care Health Service Center in Topeka, Kansas. 

Gale was born on September 26, 1941 in Hays, Kansas the son of Ernest Charles and Pauline (Boxberger) Hatcher.  He grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High in 1960.  Attended Fort Hays University then graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in Architecture in 1964.  He was united in marriage to Amanda (Mandy) L'Heureux in 1962.  From this union they were blessed with three children, twin-daughters Lane and Lori, and a son Brady.  Residing in the Kansas City area he made his living in architecture with his retirement in 2009.  Was a member of Saint John Lutheran Church of Russell, Elks Lodge of Russell and Kansas City.  A member of Brookridge and Nall Hills Country Clubs in Kansas City, Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, and ROTC.  He spent his leisure time coaching, studying architecture, and enjoyed K.S.U. Sports, Royals baseball, Chiefs football, and NBA basketball.  Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his business colleagues, community associates, family members and his friends. 

Surviving family include his twin-daughters - Lane Hatcher of Saint Francis, Kansas, and Lori  Hatcher of Celina, Texas and his son, Brady  Hatcher of Topeka, Kansas with each of his five grandchildren from them. 

Preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Pauline Hatcher of Russell. 

Celebration of Gale’s Life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, January, 06, 2010, at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating. Interment will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation from 9AM to 8 PM Tuesday, January 5 at the mortuary with family present 6pm-7pm Tuesday evening. Memorials may be given to Russell Recreation Department and sent in care of the mortuary.  Condolences may be sent via email by going to  www.pvpmortuary.com.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
