Louis Paul Ehrlich, 86, of Russell, died on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at his home.  He was born on October 29, 1923 in Russell County, Kansas the son of Godfred B. and Regina (Boger) Ehrlich.  He attended school in Russell, and when he was old enough, he joined the United States Army from 1943 to 1945.  During his time in the Army he fought during World War II in the European Theater and worked with the 126th EVAC Hospital.  Several years later, after being discharged from the Army, he met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Dorothy Juanita Bean.  They were married at the Bender Hill Church on April 21, 1952.  From this union Louis and Juanita were blessed with two sons, Leslie and Melvin.  He worked for Russell County as an equipment operator in the Noxious Weed Department for 30 years.  He also worked as a farmer and a laborer for some of the oil companies in the Russell County area.  He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Russell and was proud to be a lifetime member of the Russell V.F.W. Post #6240

Surviving family include his two sons Leslie Ehrlich and wife Mary of Walnut Creek, California and Melvin Ehrlich and wife Janet of north of Victoria, Kansas; two brothers Walter Ehrlich of Great Bend, Kansas and Edward Ehrlich and wife Lynda of Omaha, Nebraska; and four grandchildren, Timothy, Stephanie, Rick and Bobbi.  He was preceded in death by his Parents, wife Juanita on August 10, 1998, brother Leon Ehrlich and twin siblings who died at birth.

A celebration of Louis’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating.  Burial will follow at the Russell City Cemetery.  Visitation at the mortuary will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M., Monday, March 1, 2010 with family present from 6 PM to 7 PM Monday evening.  Memorials may be given to the Red Cross, Great Bend Chapter or the Alzheimer’s Association and may be sent in care of the mortuary.  Condolences may be sent via email by going to www.pvpmortuary.com.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
