Shayne Marcene Barnes, 58, of  Russell, died on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at her home.  She was born on August 14, 1951 in Russell, Kansas the daughter of Vaughn M. and Donna M. (Moore) Humes.

She grew up and attended school in the Bunker Hill area until it was closed, she then attended school in Luray and graduated from Luray High School in 1969.  She worked for the City and County of Russell for over 30 years.  She was a member of the Bunker Hill United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed spending her time at home reading or spending time with her family, friends and many grandchildren.

Surviving family include her sons Shawn Evans and wife Sara and Scott Evans both of Russell, Kansas; daughters Tianna Bays-Broils of Russell and Kelsi Hedger and husband Joe of Hutchinson, Kansas, sisters Peggy Chrisler of Russell and Shelley Barton and husband Randy of Colby, Kansas, and ten grandchildren Alyssa, Bailey, Cade, Cael, Caleigh, Wyatt, Max, Brandon, Zayden and Ethan and life partner Gary Barnes of Oden, Kansas.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Celebration of Shayne’s Life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the Bunker Hill United Methodist Church in Bunker Hill with Pastor Earl Haggard officiating.  Burial will follow at the Bunker Hill Cemetery.  Viewing will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Monday, March 8, 2010 at the mortuary with family present from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M.
