Cicily Ann Gerhardt, 71 of Russell died Thursday, April 1, 2010 at her daughter’s home in Great Bend, Kansas after battling cancer.
Cicily was born January 2, 1939 in Olmitz, Kansas the daughter of Marvin and Stephanie (Jarmer) Masters. She grew up and attended school in Olmitz.
Cicily was united in marriage to Herman Gerhardt on February 20, 1957 in Olmitz. This union was blessed with five children; Jerry, Herman Jr., Marvin, Dorothy and Debra. Cicily and Herman made their home in Olmitz, Hoisington and moved to Russell in 1980.
Cicily was a nurse’s aid for many of the nursing homes in Russell, Hoisington and Belleville, Kansas.
Cicily was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Russell. She also was a member of the Russell V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to play Bingo, work with ceramics, embroidering and painting.
Surviving family include her husband of 30 years, Herman of the home; three sons, Jerry Gerhardt and wife Patty of Hays, Kansas, Herman Gerhardt, Jr and wife Anita of Russell, Kansas and Marvin Gerhardt and wife Debra of Pawnee Rock, Kansas; two daughters, Dorothy Ramuez and husband Marty of Blunt, South Dakota and Debra Freed of Great Bend, Kansas; brother Bob Jarmer of Great Bend, Kansas; sister Juanita Dreiling of Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Curtis McCracken.
Celebration of Cicily’s Life will be held at 3 PM Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary. The services will conclude at the mortuary. Visitation will be from 1 PM to 8 PM Monday at the mortuary. A memorial has been established with St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Russell. Contributions and condolences may be sent in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
