Stella Fae Tiedeman Nesbitt was born June 20, 1916 near Page City Logan County Kansas to Carsten A. Tiedeman and Dora Furthmyer Tiedeman. The family moved in 1921 to farm in the Hornview community northeast of Russell where the Tiedeman family farmed for over a century and where Stella and her sisters Gladys Adsit and Helen A. Anschutz were raised. She passed from this earth on May 6, 2010 at Indianapolis, Indiana where she had lived for over three months.
She was predeceased in death by her parents C.A. and Dora Tiedeman and sister, Gladys Adsit. She is survived by her daughter, Alice Fae (Garold) Johnson, Indianapolis Indiana, two grandchildren, Alicia (Scot) Hollingsworth, Plant City Florida, and Mark Johnson, Indianapolis, Indiana, two great-grandchildren, Erica and Sean Hollingsworth, Plant City Florida, her sister Helen A. Anschutz, Russell Kansas, nephew Steven (Jurita) Anschutz, Cincinnati Ohio and niece Annette (Tom) Moore, Lyons Kansas, and three great nieces and one great great niece.
Stella retired from employment after thirty years with the Russell Regional Hospital. She enjoyed being able to travel extensively to sights around the world in numerous countries. She was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church and Methodist Church Women for fifty-eight years and was a life member and past president of the Sunflower Chapter of the Kansas Financial Management Association. She had volunteered with the Russell Hospital Auxiliary, the Russell County Historical Association and Russell Association of Churches Board, Russell Business and Professional Women and Extension Homemakers.
Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. on Wednesday, May 12 2010 at the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Russell, Kansas with Pastor Earl Haggard officiating. Burial will follow at the Russell City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. Tuesday, May 11 2010 at the mortuary. Family will be present to greet guests from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. Tuesday evening May 11. Memorials may be made to the Otterbein United Methodist Church or Russell Regional Hospital and sent in care of the mortuary.
Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
